Waking up in this sumptuous villa in St Lucia, to a periwinkle blue sky, a turquoise sea and the smell of a steaming pot of coffee, feels just like paradise. This villa is a true jewel and whether you are honeymooners or simply on holiday, it is perfection personified! The idyllic views of the Pitons and the dramatic sunsets, combined with the hedonism of La Bagatelle make it the perfect getaway from the stress and hassle of everyday life.
La Bagatelle's style is understated chic - polished dark wooden floors and white walls. The house has spacious rooms, high ceilings and exotic gardens. Bougainvillea winds its way up the walls and blue thunbergia blossoms hang from the railings, mixing with fragrant white ginger lilies and bamboo.
For those feeling vaguely energetic the tennis court below the house is available and for the adventurous, there are excellent diving and hiking opportunities nearby.
However, for those whose one weakness is relaxing, you can pamper yourself with panoramic views and cocktails by the pool. Moreover, with a housekeeper-cum-cook to look after you, you'll never need to think about whose turn it is to cook supper!
Location
La Bagatelle can be found nestling in the hills in southern St Lucia, ten minutes above the town of Soufrière, with views over the Pitons. Life on this side of the island is unhurried and has been virtually untouched by commercialism, compared to the more cosmopolitan northern half. The dramatic twin peaks of The Pitons dominate the skyline in the south west, and the villa have perfect views of them as well as over a glittering sea. There is also a magnificent rainforest with an exotic variety of flora and fauna, and a drive-in volcano.

Accommodation
The villa has been decorated in chic style, swathed in expanses of cool white walls and polished wooden floors, with Italian tiling in the bathrooms.
The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, an ornate West Indian four poster complete with fine mosquito netting and designer cotton linen. The room comes with spectacular views and an en suite bathroom, toiletries provided.
The ground floor is devoted to a large living cum dining room with a beautiful high ceiling, looking to the mountains and sea. The kitchen is at the back of the house.
If the heat gets too much, the pool is just at the other end of the living room, beyond the shady terrace, where there is another day bed, perfect for an afternoon siesta.
Facilities
La Bagatelle has WiFi, telephones, CD player and fans. The kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything required, including the usual fridge, oven and laundry facilities. Hairdryers and a baby cot are also available.
The pool is outside, 5.5m x 3m (1m-2m deep), with built in steps.
The owners live very discreetly next door, and their tennis court is available for use if required. The housekeep/cook and a gardener are there to look after you and the property.
On-site massages can be arranged.
Soufrière and the surrounding area
La Bagatelle's secluded location gives you privacy but is within easy walking or driving distance of Soufriere. Although you will probably take advantage of the housekeeper who, in unobtrusive style, can prepare succulent meals using fresh, local produce, there are also many good restaurants nearby.
You can spend the days on fabulous beaches, at the local market in Soufriere, at the drive through volcano, at the sulphur springs or in the Botanical Gardens. The list of activities is endless, from snorkelling to wake-boarding.
