  • Located in the much-loved seaside town of Ventnor, just a short walk from the town’s beach
  • Situated adjacent to Ventnor Park Gardens, and within waking distance of Steephill Cove and Ventnor Botanic Gardens
Property code: IC025

Ground-floor stable conversion property sleeping two guests, clustered around a secluded courtyard alongside other holiday cottages, situated just a short walk from Ventnor seafront.

This eclectic converted stable is located just a short distance to the west of the main beach in the seaside resort of Ventnor, on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. Just next to the property, Ventnor Park Gardens make for a pleasant place to walk, and perhaps spend an enjoyable afternoon on the putting green. The seafront in Ventnor is reminiscent of times past, with deckchair hire, an array of small shops selling snacks and seaside paraphernalia, and a children’s paddling pool. For a quieter beach experience, the secluded Steephill Cove is just a short walk from the property, and as it is only accessible by foot, is far quieter than the main esplanade and is home to the well-regarded Crab Shed seasonal restaurant.

Guests approach this property across the shared courtyard, before entering the cottage directly into the open plan living space. Consisting of a lounge/diner, this  space has been thoughtfully finished with well-chosen antique furnishings, and featuring a large bay window, a large feature fireplace, and an inviting Chesterfield sofa, as well as a TV/DVD with the basic Sky package. There is a separate galley kitchen which is perfectly in keeping with the style of the cottage, where guests will find an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. Towards the rear of the room, one step leads up to the bedroom and bathroom and moving through to the bedroom, guests will find a sanctuary-like space which has been finished in a vintage style with exposed floorboards, wooden beams, a double bed and patio doors which lead out onto a courtyard seating area. The bathroom, meanwhile, offers a free-standing bath with a hand-held shower over the bath and WC. There is a passageway to one side of the bathroom providing a door to the courtyard garden.

Outside, the property benefits from a south-facing courtyard garden for which there is garden furniture provided. There is off-road parking provided for one car, just to the front of the property.

  • 1 bedroom - double
  • 1 bathroom with WC
  • Electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment
  • Off-road parking for 1 car
  • Please note if you wish to charge your electric car you must arrange this in advance with the owner and costs will apply – payable directly to the owner
  • Regret no children or babies
  • Beach, pub, and shops within walking distance
  • TV/DVD with Sky basic package in lounge
  • Towels available to hire at the time of booking for £10 per set

Totally charming quirky accommodation, the most comfy bed, quiet with a lovely 10 minute stroll to the centre of Ventnor. Met the owners who were just lovely and helpful. Characterful, quirky property in a lovely location! Comfy bed, small galley kitchen, Sky Tv and wi-fi all good. Bathroom facilities perhaps not so suitable for older people with mobility issues. Good value for money.

Location was perfect and the owner was very pleasant. The only downside was the cleanliness of the house. Dusty and had cob webs. Roof tends to be leaking in corner. Windows very drafty and cottage can get quite cold. The boiler was not on when we arrived hence a very cold house greeted us. The cover on our Bed was stained. Loved our relaxing stay and exploring all the quirky items. Very comfy bed and the little garden is lovely for outside meals and reading. Nice and close to Ventnor and Steephill Cove and right next to the park. We didnt see the owners during our stay but everything was straightforward.

Kitchen needs salt and pepper, sharp knives for preparation, new scouring pads, an identifiable recycling system. There is a potential safety risk where the gas hob is directly beneath the electrical sockets and heating timer. Self catering of this calibre should have a washing machine. Would not recommend accommodation, which is a shame as position is very good and possibilities to improve endless. .Whole place needs thorough overhaul, (being careful not to spoil the quirkiness of the cottage.) Very little provided - no soap, washing up liquid , scourer, oven gloves or even a few tea bags.
