Situated close to the old pretty market town of Wirksworth, the property is a great choice for guests looking to spend a day meandering through the variety of local shops, cafes and restaurants of this historic Peak District town. For walkers, the nearby High Peak Trail provides an excellent starting point for a challenging hike through this spectacular part of the world. Nearby Carsington Water boasts a variety of scenic walks around the reservoir and beyond. Why not try a spot of kayaking, cycling, sailing or fishing. Matlock Bath has a huge selection of cafes and ice cream parlours and is also the starting point for the cable car that takes you to the Heights of Abraham.

Stepping into the hallway of the cottage is a space where you can hang your coats and take off your boots and wander through to the cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. In the lounge area there is a comfy sofa to snuggle up on by the beautiful roaring wood burner and TV, a great place to relax after a day hiking the hills. The kitchen offers everything you need to rustle up a satisfying meal such as an electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer and washing machine. Enjoy the results of your cooking at the nearby dining table. There is a ground floor shower room with shower and WC which will get you fit and ready for a day exploring the hills. There is a steep stone staircase that bends and leads up to the first floor with a huge high ceiling in the bedroom that is impressive and feels light and airy. There is a super-king-size bedroom which will provide a good night’s rest, with complimenting furniture and wardrobe space.

Outside to the front of the cottage is small patio area with a hot tub which is incredibly inviting throughout the year and the perfect place to relax and unwind. There is roadside parking, subject to availability.

A lovely location with easy access to the Middleton moors so lovely for dog walking. Tourist attractions such as the miniature railway and Middleton Top pump house were also in walking distance. A beautiful, cosy and welcoming cottage in an excellent location for exploring the Peak District. An incredibly comfortable and cosy bed, a well equipped kitchen and the hot tub was very welcome of an evening (although the cover was a bit tricky to get on and off.) We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend to others.

Cottage is well located for walking. Hot tub is great after a days walking. Bedroom is roomy and bed really comfy. Shower room is very nice. For our stay we found that the oven was filthy and we were not happy to use it. Cottage windows were very draft.

New year stay. Lovely cottage in quiet village. Good facilities, washing machine & dishwasher included. Log burner was lovely for the cold nights. Good size towels provided. Hot tub lovely, it is at the front of the property & with a low gate so you may feel exposed (we didnt see anyone). Road can be busy. Lovely little cottage, thoroughly enjoyed my stay their with my wife and dog. The new bathroom is beautifully done. The bedroom upstairs very spacious and bed was comfortable. The road noise was loud at night when cars went past but that is very minor.

Great week in the Peak District and this was a great cottage close to local facilities. It had everything you needed included a hot tub and open fire and it felt cosy and homely. Kitchen was well equipped and a great bathroom with huge shower.

For many years I have been visiting family in the Peak District, staying in different cottages and locations each time. Lovely cottage, a bit small, but fine once you get used to layout, would of rathered bathroom upstairs which was plenty of room in bedroom for one! , very nervy coming down the stairs in night to use toilet as they are curved so some steps very narrow!! Garden extremely small ! So if you have a dog be mindful of that!

Really enjoyable stay and everything you need! Very clean and a comfortable bed. The only issue we had was dogs were not allowed upstairs but only found that out when we arrived. There was also no stair gate to keep our dog downstairs easily. The stairs was also very steep and a little dangerous so had to watch our dog constantly which made it not Read morevery relaxing but we werent in the cottage each day for long so not too bad I guess. Just got back from a lovely weekend stay at Stowe cottage, we had an amazing time with our dog, the cottage itself was very clean and very nice, shower room was very good, the bed was very big and extremely comfy, location was really good for walks, we did the hike in Middleton which took us to black rock, amazing views, we also did carsington wateRead morer and hope valley which he had to drive to, both really good days out, theres 2 pubs nearby Id recommend the rising sun, good food and a nice pint. overall we were pleased with our stay. the cottage was warm, cosy and the bed was comfortable. negatives: the chlorine level was far too high. we stay at a lot of hot tub retreats and this was a ridiculous , stinging my eyes and bleaching my swim wear. we contacted the homeowner but were ignored. we did however get a rude text on the morning of depRead morearture to tell us to be out by 10. the logs for the fire were damp the fire needs a service. dishwasher was broken, utensils were dirty Hide

Really nice cottage, smaller than expected which wasn't too much of an issue for us as there was just us and our one dog. Location great for walks, highly recommend Middleton Top the views are stunning. Only one of the local pubs was open during our stay which was a shame. Would stay there again.

Lovely cosy cottage in a gorgeous location. Lots of nice local walks to do. We stayed with our dog and there was more than enough room for the three of us downstairs. It can be hard to keep the dog downstairs without a gate so we improvised and used the fire guard, seemed to do the trick! Log burner and hot tub are just what you want after a long dRead moreay of walking!! Huge comfy bed! Can see how the stairs would be abit dangerous to less abled people but we had no problems.
