Property code: 88685

This well-presented mid-terrace cottage is in the heart of popular Wooler, known as the Gateway to the Cheviot Hills on the edge of the stunning national park with official Dark Sky status. Walk to the shops, pubs, cafes, and restaurants from the doorstep, play golf and stroll by the river. A wide range of walking, running and cycling trails are nearby; head up Humbleton Hill for amazing views, enjoy the fabulous scenery en route to St. Cuthbert’s Cave, and discover the ruins of the former King of Northumbria’s palace at Ad Gefrin, all within 9 miles. Ride on the steam train from Heatherslaw (10 miles) and visit Etal village and castle. Drive to the beach and magnificent castle at Bamburgh (16 miles) and tour the coastal villages.

Step into the bright and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner which has wood flooring throughout, a sense of space, and a welcoming feel. The ground floor is set out in a way that allows you to enjoy each area separately, and still be together. The lounge has two comfortable sofas where you can unwind in front of the open fire after a day’s activities in the fresh air. Sit with a drink and warm your toes, dive into one of the many books, listen to some music, or catch up with your favourite shows on the TV. There is also a collection of DVDs if you want to enjoy a movie night. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, and a washing machine. You can sit at the table for sociable mealtimes and planning holiday activities over a coffee. When you are ready to enjoy a good night’s sleep head upstairs to find the two king-size bedrooms. Each has a contemporary en-suite shower room and WC. The doorways to the en-suites are narrower than usual and therefore do not have a door but you have plenty of privacy.

Outside, there is a small patio area to the rear of the cottage with garden furniture where you can dine alfresco. The rest of the rear area is officially shared but rarely used by the neighbouring property. There are ample parking spaces on-street in front of the cottage (subject to availability), and there is additional free parking (40 metres).

  • 2 king-size bedrooms
  • 2 en-suite shower rooms with showers and WCs (no doors to bathrooms due to narrow door width)
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine and washing machine
  • Open fire (first basket of logs provided)
  • TV/DVD/CD in lounge
  • Shared patio area with seating
  • On-street parking plus free car park 40 metres away (subject to availability)
  • Shops, pubs, and restaurants less than 1 mile
  • Please note - all funds from this property go to Rescue Me Dogs, a charity run by the owner, which supplies dogs to ex-members of the armed services that suffer from PTSD
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

The cottage is beautifully located in Wooler, within easy walking distance of shops and eateries but on a quiet road off the main street with lovely views of the churchyard. We always found plenty of free on-street parking nearby. The cottage itself feels comfortable and welcoming, with lots of personal touches - a real home from home in a beautifuRead morel part of the country. The wonderful new Ad Gefrin museum and distillery is only short walk away. Hide

Brilliant location, exceptionally clean throughout and really cosy, especially when the fire is lit. Ever you could wish for for a relaxing break. Recommend a trip to Wooler common to see the red squirrels. Would definitely want to return.
