Allonby is perfectly placed for exploring the Solway Coast and the Western Lake District. It has a beautiful part-pebble, part-sandy beach, which is lovely for a walk whilst admiring the views out towards Scotland. The Cumbrian Coastal Way passes through the village, and walkers can enjoy many miles of green sea banks. Mawbray beach (2 miles north) is backed by undulating sand dunes, whilst birdwatchers and nature lovers should head to the RSPB Reserve at Campfield Marsh (20 miles). For cycling enthusiasts, try out the mountain bike trails at Whinlatter (16 miles), or road cyclists can challenge themselves on the Newlands and Whinlatter passes. Cockermouth, the birthplace of Wordsworth, is less than 10 miles away and has lots of independent shops to explore, as well as a great choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants to refuel. The bustling market town of Keswick (24 miles) and the Roman port of Maryport (5 miles) are both within driving distance.

This wonderful Georgian property, sat at the end of the village overlooking the sea, has been lovingly restored throughout and designed to accommodate a number of contemporary apartments. This first-floor apartment is accessed via a shared entrance and up a sweeping original staircase. As you enter the property you will find yourself in the hallway, there is a cupboard with storage for your coats and shoes and it also houses a washing machine. Off the hallway, directly ahead of the entrance, you will find the open-plan kitchen/lounge. This room has traditional high ceilings and a large six paned window with views directly across to the sea and beach. Relax on the comfortable sofa, watch a movie on the TV or catch up on the days adventures whilst prepping a delicious dinner! The kitchen is well designed with pull-out larder cupboard and everything you will need to rustle up breakfast or a tasty evening meal. The welcoming double bedroom, with chest of drawers and dressing table, is just down the hallway along with the contemporary shower room boasting chic matt tiles and rainfall shower.

Heading outside, the shared garden has a gravelled patio area with outdoor furniture, providing a lovely spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

No.7 North Lodge was superb. Modern, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable and cosy. We love the view of the Firth from the apartment lounge window.

Our second stay at North Lodge & Th Hideaway did not disappoint! Great sea views, modern & well equipped. Very central for exploring the coast from Whitehaven to Bowness on Solway. Would definitely stay there again.

We came to this cottage for the first time. We were welcomed by the host. The cottages location is excellent. Very clean cottage. We enjoyed our stay. We will come again.

Angela and Scott were the perfect host. With the perfect apartment in the perfect little village. We sat in the living room and watched the sunset every night. We had the most amazing week away and this is one hidden gem that I'd love to gatekeep from people!
