Set within a private scenic meadow and surrounded by woodland, this handmade shepherd's hut is simply perfect for couples wanting a truly off-grid experience set within the Black Mountains. A great location for walkers and cyclists, the starting point being the direct access onto Offa’s Dyke from the hut. Continue up the hill (0.5 miles) and you can start your climb to Hay Bluff summit; from here you can explore Tympa. Follow the trail across the ridge of the Black Mountains and you can enjoy glorious views across Talgarth common of Pen-y-Fan. The vibrant market town of Hay-on-Wye sits at the bottom of the hill; renowned for its annual book festival in June, it’s a lovely town with local independent shops, cafes, and restaurants. Set on the banks of the River Wye, you can take advantage of the local riverside beach, The Warren, where you can hire a canoe, or simply relax and enjoy the wildlife.

Enjoy the views as you climb the hill from Hay-on-Wye towards Hay Bluff; the meadow is situated directly off the lane offering gated access in approximately 1 acre of wild meadow. The bespoke, hand built hut offers a warm welcome and a set of steps offers access into the main body of the hut where guests can relax and unwind. It has been beautifully finished by the owner with an open-plan living space that includes a kitchen area, a wood burner for cosy evenings in, a dining table for two, and a TV (run from solar energy). For a peaceful night's sleep, there's a comfy king-size bed and an en-suite shower room.

Outside, guests can relax whilst enjoying the breath taking views across the Wye Valley. There is a wooden table and chairs for dining, along with a fire pit which is great for toasting marshmallows and enjoying the dark skies.

We greatly enjoyed our days in this lovely hut. Although there is no connection to the electric grid, it has enough energy supplied by a solar panel to keep some LED lights on and recharge your mobile phones. There is good water supply (non drinkable). A small stove and shower with hot water are powered by gas. The location of the hut gives you a fRead moreantastic view of the valley of the River Wye. If you want to find a secluded place to enjoy silence and stargazing, this is an excellent option. Hide
