Set in an idyllic position surrounded by trees in an elevated position in the Heights of Achterneed, this beautiful cabin is 1.5 miles from the village of Strathpeffer which sits within a wide valley. The centre of the village still retains a Victorian feel with grand architecture and natural springs. The beautifully restored pavilion hosts a variety of cultural events, including concerts, plays and art exhibitions. There are several eateries to enjoy and walks suitable for all abilities surrounding Strathpeffer and the wider area, including the region’s highest mountain, Ben Wyvis. Nearby Rogie Falls offers a chance to watch wild salmon leap up majestic rock falls whilst the rapids flow beneath the dramatic suspension bridge (4.5 miles). Inverness is located 21 miles away.

Step inside this romantic retreat from the front porch into the spacious lounge/kitchen/diner. Relax in the lounge area on the large comfortable sofa after a day out exploring, and convert the sofa into a bed if you have an extra guest staying. On a cooler evening, light the wood burner to cosy up and enjoy a movie on the Smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen is the perfect place to cook up a hearty breakfast or evening meal, which can be enjoyed together at the table. Head through to the bedroom where you will find a double bed to get a peaceful night’s rest. Completing inside is the shower room to get you ready for the day’s activities ahead.

Venturing outside to the spacious enclosed private garden, you will find the private wood-fired hot tub to soothe any aches away after a day of hiking, with lovely woodland and garden views. The cabin has a porch that offers shelter from the rain and a hanging cocoon egg chair, perfect for enjoying a good book. You can enjoy the peace and tranquillity and dine alfresco at the table and chairs provided.

Turns out we were the first people to stay at Cascade Cabin, and it was a real privilege. The Cabin is a 5-star wooden lodge built by its owner Sandy, and its evident he's a proper craftsman. The Cabin is beautiful and in a fabulous location. Its roomy, comfortable and luxurious and we loved it. Strathpeffer is well placed for visiting both East anRead mored West Highlands, so makes a good base when touring around, as we were. Definitely the place we'd stay at when we're in the area again.
