This gorgeous cottage just for two is the ideal getaway for couples. It is situated handily just off the A12, outside the quiet village of Kelsale, ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful holiday with excellent walks and cycle paths on the doorstep. The historic market town of Saxmundham, which has a number of pubs, cafes and restaurants, plus a range of independent shops, is only 5 miles away. Atmospheric Dunwich, with its ruined medieval friary, is 7.5 mile distant; the fascinating ‘fantasy’ village of Thorpeness is 8 miles away, and the timeless seaside town of Aldeburgh is 10 miles away, where you can explore the Georgian high street with its independent shops, galleries and restaurants (don’t miss the fish and chips). Southwold (12.5 miles) is also hugely popular and worth visiting for its lovely beach, Edwardian pier and iconic lighthouse.
This enchantingly light and airy cottage is set within the owner’s grounds but is completely private. All on one level, it has an open-plan lounge with a timber floor, large windows overlooking the garden and a dining area to one side, leading through to the pretty kitchen. The large bedroom is a fabulous space, calm and elegant, with a soft carpet and a very comfortable bed. There is a separate bathroom, beautifully designed with tongue-and-groove panelling and P-shaped bath with a shower over it.
The lawned garden has well-established planting and a raised deck with furniture and a BBQ. A timber pergola protects the decked area with shade and the whole area is a delightful spot in which to enjoy an al fresco meal or simply watch and listen to the local bird life.
