Located on a working dairy farm positioned on the edge of the pretty village of Skirwith. The village lies at the foot of the fells surrounded by open countryside with the dramatic backdrop of the Northern Pennines. This is an excellent base to explore the Lakes, Eden Valley and further afield and come home at the end of the day to relax. A network of paths and bridleways leads from the village so you can leave the car behind and head out to enjoy a walk or bike ride. The village of Little Salkeld (4.5 miles) is a great place to begin a loop taking in Lacy’s Caves (7.5 miles from home) and Long Meg and Her Daughters a popular walk (4.5 miles away). The bustling market town of Penrith (9 miles) has a nice selection of independent shops and restaurants. Board a traditional Ullswater Steamer 13 miles away on Lake Ullswater and enjoy peace and tranquillity.

This charming Shepherd’s hut is tucked away, set within the owner's mature garden (privacy is guaranteed). The door to the hut is stable, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors inside. The wood cladding inside the hut is cosy and welcoming, every thought has been given to make this place homely and a real retreat. There are two steps which lead you inside. The hut is open plan with a dining area and well-equipped kitchen area which features a lovely Belfast sink with copper tap and a mounted dresser with attractive crockery on display. You can rustle up a hearty breakfast or a romantic meal for two on the hob or in the mini oven/grill. The double bed is set to the back of the hut and has a privacy curtain, along with a window overlooking the open fields and woodland. There is a TV in the bedroom area. The wooden shutters within the bedroom offer privacy while maintaining the character and charm of this place.

Outside to the back of the hut, you will find the ‘Relieve and Refresh’ hut which has a fully plumbed-in shower and WC. Don’t worry if you need to get up in the night there are outside lights and lights within the hut as well, just remember to pack your dressing gown! Briggle Beck runs beside the hut, enjoy sitting out on an evening with the chimenea warming you while listening to the water running and the local wildlife and birds. Often on a clear night, you will find the skies full of stars, enjoy star gazing and take some time out from the reality of day-to-day life! The smell of the herbs in the garden is a delight while you kick back with a good book and watch the chickens potter. Please note the path down to the hut is on a slight incline and is gravel. There is also a storage shed for muddy walking boots and to dry off coats etc.
