This detached and welcoming holiday home sits in a beautiful spot on the historic Dougarie Estate, offering a remote base for couples and solo travellers seeking tranquillity and dramatic scenery. The island is often referred to as ‘Scotland in miniature’ thanks to its stunning landscapes, rich history and wide choice of outdoor activities – the first of which awaits 400 metres away at golden Dougarie Beach. From here, explore the island’s west coast further, starting with the 2-mile walk to the village of Machrie, known for its pretty beach, Neolithic stone circle, and popular golf club. More history awaits further afield in Brodick (11 miles), the island’s main village. This scenic hub is home to the island’s ferry terminal and offers a range of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as Brodick Castle, Garden and Country Park (11.5 miles). For whisky tasting and tours, visit the Lochranza Distillery or Lagg Distillery (both within 13 miles).

As you approach this inviting property, take a moment to admire its peaceful setting surrounded by greenery on the Dougarie Estate. Step into the enclosed garden and make your way to the front door, before heading inside to be greeted by the airy open-plan living space. Boasting sleek flooring and whitewashed walls, this fresh room combines a well-appointed kitchen with a dining area and lounge space. Rest your weary feet as you sink into the soft sofa and flick on the Smart TV to sample local Scottish shows or find your own favourites. When stomachs begin to rumble, a stylish kitchen stands ready with everything required for a self-catered stay; enjoy your meals at the fold-out dining table or alfresco-style in the garden. When it’s time to call it a night, head to the rear of the property to find your restful super-king-size bedroom, which features nautical colours and zip-and-link beds that can be converted to twins on request. Serving the bedroom and completing the interior is a gleaming en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower.

Step outside each morning to breathe in the fresh island air. Out here, you will find a small furnished patio perfect for al fresco coffees and evening tipples, plus a gravelled garden. An external utility space sits at the rear, and you will also benefit from off-road parking for two cars.

This property faces the sun all day and gets very hot but sight management got two fans for us but still very hot all night due to not being able to open windows as this part of Arron has very bad midgets at this time of year July. The first night was so bad we went to leave a door open and the place was full of midgets. The owner was very upset to Read morefind out the way our apartment was left and got the sight management to get fans and new cutlery and wooden spoons. They offered to do a load of laundry for us as we had been traveling for 10 days and in the itinerary had said a washing machine was in the out building. The driveway up to the apartment has big holes in it as well which need addressing. The sight management was very helpful and could not apologize enough for the things that had happened. They gave us a temporary gate to put across the Court yard which helped us out as we had two dogs with us. If you manage to go and the weather is hot the place never cools down at all. We would go back but not stay in this property as it is in the sun all the time. Hide

A lovely, small cottage recently converted to a high standard. We loved the quiet location with an easy walk to the shore especially in the evening when the estate staff had gone home. Everyone was friendly and helpful and even shared some wedding cake with us.
