A delightful single-storey conversion, which provides spacious accommodation for two. This beautifully-furnished accommodation is perfect for concerts at Snape Maltings (1 mile) and walks along the Alde estuary to the Suffolk coast. Tucked away in the tranquil setting of Snape, the cottage is close to all the attractions of Snape Maltings, a centre for fine dining, shopping, art and culture. The Snape Maltings Concert Hall offers a varied programme of music and dance throughout the year. The area is also fantastic for walking; you can either follow your leisurely itinerary or join a guided tour from Snape Maltings to explore the wildlife and historic landscape of the Alde valley. You can take a boat trip along the River Alde to Iken Church, located in an area that’s naturally rich in wildlife and a haven for wildfowl. The quiet country lanes and pathways offer a picturesque route for cyclists, and there are a variety of pubs and tearooms to break up your journey. The seaside town of Aldeburgh (5.4 miles) is home to several art galleries for viewing, collecting or inspiring, and there’s an excellent art shop in Woodbridge (11 miles), an Aladdin’s cave for art materials.

This historic property dates back to 1797 and was restored in 1937 by the UK’s most famous modern composer, Benjamin Britten. It now stands proudly as a holiday cottage, with accommodation set on one level. The property's history is reflected through its pamment flooring and flint walls, but it also has all of the mod cons needed for a relaxing holiday. The cosy countryside decor creates a welcoming atmosphere. The light and airy kitchen is a lovely space to cook, and the dining area is next to the window with views of the garden. The sitting room is the perfect place to relax and lose yourself in a good book, and the super-king-size bedroom with zip-and-link beds is decorated tastefully.

Outside, the property boasts an attractive lawned garden with a picnic bench, ideal for al fresco dining.

The best week. Cottage comfortable with a perfect blend of old and new. Such lovely host owners! And a direct connection with Britten: photographs show the history of the cottage and adjoining mill, including from the period when the cottage was lived in by Britten. As others have said, the cottage is single storey with easy level access but there is a step up from the kitchen. Hide

Like other users, we valued the single story accommodation. Parking is right outside the building which makes life very easy after a long journey. We booked this cottage as it was near to the Snape Maltings, but for us, a little too far to walk, especially in inclement weather. The walk-in shower was thankfully easy to use. The weather wasn't tooRead more kind to us, but had it been the little garden to the front of the cottage was quite charming and could have been used for alfresco dining/ snacks etc. The owners allowed us to use their EV charger, for a small charge, which meant that our journey home was so much easier, thank you Ellen and Chris. The cottage was very comfortable and the owners living next door was very helpful. It is in a great location, a few minutes walk from Snape Maltings and its amenities as well as lovely walks along the estuary. There are many places of interest nearby.

Beautiful cottage, with everything you need for a relaxing break. The cottage is on a main road but there was virtually no traffic at night. Owners live on site, they were very helpful with local amenities. Would definitely recommend it.

Very interesting history of the cottage and it's link to the composer Benjamin Britten. Location a good starting point for walks and visiting coastal towns, nature reserves and historic sites. The local garage (150yards) is handy for charging Electric Car. Would consider returning!

As a retired couple ~ within touching distance of being 80 years old ~ this was our consecutive stay at "Millers Cottage". For us the cottage was so ideal, and upon opening the stable style front door and stepping inside, it was like feeling "back home". The cottage has so much character and history and being all on one level was important for us. Read moreSince our stay in 2024, the owners have replaced the gravel drive with an attractive resin bound drive, which is certainly much more "user friendly" especially for anyone with a physical disability and in need of using a wheelchair. The location is so ideal, being so close to Snape Maltings with its various outlets and its concert hall. Without needing to even travel around too far, there is much to visit and explore. Without wanting to embarrass them, the owners are a delightful couple indeed. Needless to say that we so enjoyed our stay. Hide
