First-floor apartment in 40-acres of grounds on the shores of Esthwaite Water, a short drive from the village of Hawkshead.

This apartment benefits from an absolutely stunning location on the edge of Esthwaite Water, surrounded by mountain views and miles of scenic walks. The village of Hawkshead is close by, with its Beatrix Potter Gallery, shops, including a lovely deli, and choice of pubs. Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are a short drive away, where it is possible to take boat trips and try your hand at a range of water sports.

Approaching the property up the sweeping drive, guests will immediately feel that they are stating somewhere truly special. A private walkway at the rear of the property leads to the front door of the apartment, where guests will find the spacious lounge/diner with its comfortable seating, electric fire, TV and DVD. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, and microwave, whilst there are laundry facilities available for guests’ use onsite. The property’s relaxing bedroom has a double bed and dressing table, and an en-suite shower room with WC.

Outside, the property has shared access to a huge 40-acres of grounds, including lovely landscaped gardens with plenty of seating areas, woodland and lakeside access, perfect for watching the sunset over the mountains. The play area is a great place for children to burn off some energy, with its swings, climbing frame, and outdoor table tennis. Off-road parking is provided.

Very pleasant cabin and would stay there again. Take note of the large number of steps to access the property if steps are a problem for you ( fine for us).

The location of this property is wonderful. We had apartment 9 which was perfect for 2. The dining table had glorious views over the lake and despite the awful (November) weather we had a fabulous break.

We love the peace and quiet and views from Broomriggs and the warden is very friendly. We have stayed in one or other of the flats for 25 years or more. The compact kitchen has everything we need. However the bathroom we feel is due for an upgrade. The gift bag of local produce was most welcome as was the milk in the fridge.

Quiet and peaceful with good views over the lake. On a warm day it would be nice to sit on the furniture outside with a glass! and admire the garden and the view. Alan, the on site warden, is a very helpful man.

It was advertised as a first floor flat and you would think it would be an internal staircase. Access was through a courtyard, up 12 stone steps and then up 6 more steps across a metal bridge to the front door. This was alright for us but anyone with mobility problems would struggle.

Lovely property. Large enough for two of us. Loved the putting green (although I lost a couple of games, buy did get a hole in one). Caretaker very welcoming and helpful. Vilage is not far away, easily walkable.

A small comfortable apartment traditionally furnished. The view from the sitting room of Esthwaite water was fabulous. Everything we needed for our short stay. Very good value.

Although our stay was only for a week, we had a very full and satisfying time. There certainly is plenty to see and do within a reasonable distance, and beyond if one wanted to venture further afield. The view from our lounge/dining room over the lake was superb, breakfasts and dinners were had at the dining room table over-looking the valley and tRead morehe Lake. The condition of the apartment was excellent and all our needs were adequately provided for. The location was superb, away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the Lake District towns, and we were able to drive into the various towns/villages with ease, even though there were many people and traffic in the towns, which is to be expected in holiday season. We would recommend to anyone wanting self catering, relatively private, accommodation in the Lake District to try Broomriggs. It was very easy checking in upon arrival, and we were given plenty of information about the apartment and , indeed, about the area. Thanks for a pleasant base for a good holiday. Hide

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Broomriggs. Pat and Alan the caretakers were very helpful and everything had been done to ensure a relaxing holiday. Information that we received prior to our visit was very informative and although I have stayed at Broomriggs before we would have found the property without any difficulty with the informatRead moreion that was provided. A cosy, comfortable flat for two in the wonderful location. Broomriggs has its own beautiful grounds and Alan, the house manager, is very helpful. Access from the iron bridge is not easy in wet weather but we had a very enjoyable stay.
