Situated in Appledore’s most photographed street, this character cottage enjoys a desirable seaside location just a stone’s throw from the lifeboat station and bustling quayside. Here you’ll find a collection of independent shops and galleries, together with fishing and boat trips for exploring the magnificent coastline. A 5-minute drive will bring you to Westward Ho!, which boasts two miles of golden sandy beach together with an array of amusements and amenities. During your stay, make sure you pay a visit to some of the popular local attractions, which include the cobbled streets of Clovelly, RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Tapeley Park and Dartington Crystal.

Inside, the accommodation is contemporary in layout but is full of character with wooden flooring and coastal decor throughout. A galley kitchen is located towards the rear of the house but is light and airy thanks to two sky lights. Here you will find an electric oven, induction hob, fridge with separate freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. Enjoy your meals at the dining table in the window at the front of the house before relaxing on the comfortable sofa for an evening in front of the TV/DVD. Also on the ground floor is a clean and bright bathroom with WC, featuring pretty mosaic tiles surrounding the P-shaped bath, which has a shower-over. Upstairs there is one bright and airy double and one cosy single bedroom, perfect for a child. 

Outside, steps lead up to an enclosed sunny courtyard garden, the perfect spot to enjoy an al fresco meal as the sun goes down.

Very clean and cosy cottage, everything provided for a comfortable stay. Great location with two nice pubs 2 mins away. Easy enough to unload car outside cottage before finding a parking spot which I managed to find a couple of minutes walk away. Would definitely recommend

The cottage is well laid out and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable and heating excellent. Its well located ,within easy reach of pubs and restaurants. In short,Id book again.

We stayed on probably one of the rainiest weekends but we loved it, Cockle Cottage was absolutely perfect for us, warm, cosy and very well equipped with good quality cutlery and pots and pans, oven and fridge were spotless, towels were soft and everything smelt fresh. The cottage was very close to everything, pubs, restaurants were easily walkable.Read more We love Appledore and we will be back again soon. Hide

A beautifully well equipped cottage in a fantastic location. The only negative is that the steps to the rear outside are unsuitable for elderly people and elderly dogs.

We had a wonderful stay at Cockle Cottage. On arrival, the cottage was spotless and smelt clean too. It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It is situated on a lovely quiet little street with two great quality pubs within a stones throw where you can enjoy lunch whilst taking in the views of the sea. Thoroughly recommend Cockle Cottage. It is well equipped, very clean and very comfortable. Perfect location at the quieter end of a quiet street but lovely stroll into the town and nearby Beaver Inn. A small repair required was immediately dealt with by very friendly caretakers. We came home thoroughly relaxed and happy.

The house was absolutely perfect for what we needed and in an amazing location. We parked in the carpark off of Irsha street (22 for the week) and it was a minute walk from here to the house. The kitchen had everything we could need and the garden was great for our greyhounds! Locally there were some really lovely pubs and restaurants and we were nRead moreo further than an hour from all of the beaches and towns we wanted to visit. Wed stop again in a heartbeat! Hide

A lovely comfortable cottage in a good location. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Steps to the garden are quite steep which might be an issue for some, however the garden is well enclosed and safe for dogs.

Wow! A beautiful little cottage in a FASCINATING location and area. Do visit the North Devon Maritime museum in the town as the history of Appledore is amazing. I had no idea. Really good value food at the Beaver Inn nearby and lovely dinner, too, at The Royal George. Wonderful fresh fish and seafood for sale on the Quay most days. Lovely comfortable cottage well equipped. Central location and very clean. Nice enclosed garden for the dog although steps were quite steep to get up to it. We had a lovely week and would happily stay there again. Stairs to bedrooms may be a challenge to some but we got used to them. Thanks for a lovely week we may return!

What a FAB cottage this is! If you ever worry about staying somewhere and it not being clean - you have no worries here, the place was spotless! You could smell the clean bedsheets when you walked into the bedroom, that was a winner for me. A gorgeous and very well equipped kitchen, there is nothing else you need. Lovely comfortable cottage in the heart of Appledore. Cockle cottage is in the heart of Appledore and close to the beautiful beaches of Instow, Woolacombe and Croyde. Lots of pubs in walking distance and all dog friendly. The cottage was very well equipped and we would love to return.

Extremely cosy cottage , we have 2 crate trained dogs found the layout perfect for these as they can be bulky Items , great modern kitchen well equipped and very clean ! Stairs are slightly awkward and outside steps to garden need care , but great garden with seating areas and secure for dogs a real bonus

Good location and facilities. The stairs up to the first floor and to the ones to the garden are quite steep so it might not be best for old little dogs, but our 2yr old Border Terrier was fine. The cottage has squeaky floors and stairs so may set some dogs off barking.

The cottage is cosy and very well equipped . It is well located for visiting all parts of Devon. and the west of Cornwall. We had a sunny week and the garden was great to sit in at the end of a busy sight seeing day. It is easy to walk to local amenities and we found everywhere very dog friendly . We had excellent Wi-Fi reception in all rooms.
