Attractive two-bedroomed cottage enjoying a central yet quiet location in the English Riviera town of Brixham, situated just a few metres from the town’s bustling harbour.

This property is located in a traffic-free zone in the harbour town of Brixham, one of three towns clustered around the bay of Torbay in South Devon. The town has a proud maritime history and the harbour is still the thriving centre of the town today, with fishing vessels, tour boats, and the Torquay ferry running to and fro. There are number of beaches in the town, including the quiet St Mary’s Bay, the main Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone with its impressive 53-metre tidal pool. For those who want to find out more about the town’s heritage, there is a wonderfully constructed replica of Sir Francis Drake’s ship The Golden Hind moored up at the harbour, offering five decks of hands-on exhibits to explore.

This pretty property makes a lovely cosy seaside retreat and has been thoughtfully styled to offer a wonderful place to stay. On entering the cottage, guests will find themselves in the open-plan living space which has cosy underfloor heating and an attractive beamed ceiling and warming wood burner. The kitchen has been hand-built in reclaimed wood and is equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, and washing machine, as well as a breakfast bar seating three. The lounge area has a comfy sofa and two easy chairs from which to enjoy the TV and DVD, or spend the evening chatting around the wood burner. Stairs lead to the first floor where the first of the two bedrooms can be found, as well as the bathroom which offers a compact shower-over-bath and WC. This bedroom is a charming double room with a double bed, beamed ceiling, and built-in dressing table and wardrobe. The master bedroom, on the second-floor is a stunning room, with its double bed, sloping ceiling, and French window which opens onto a Juliet balcony offering beautiful views across to the harbour.

Outside, to the front of the property, is an enclosed seating area with a table and chairs, which makes an ideal spot for enjoying alfresco drinks.

The cottage itself has a LOT of potential. It's in a great location with lovely views. The bed on the top floor is incredibly comfortable, all linen was spotless & smelled great. We enjoyed our week in Devon very much but would not return to this cottage unfortunately, as it is not as described or pictured. It could be easily updated and improved, e.g. bulbs out in multiple places, limited mismatched glassware and mugs. We didn't use the outside area as it was overgrown, messy, with dead plants and generally unkempt. The weRead morelcome guide seems out of date and missing key information such as where bins are located. A shame as it could be a much nicer holiday cottage. Hide

The cottage is situated in an excellent location near to the harbour and has the potential to be really nice. Overall it was ok, beds and furniture were comfortable and the shower/washing machine/cooker all worked really well but it could really do with some TLC, some attention to detail and a lick of paint.

We had a lovely stay in Brixham. Griffin Cottage is cozy with traditional features as well as having a light/airy and modern feel. The location is great and in walking distance to everything - just be ready for the steps as a lot of Brixham is built on slopes so this is unavoidable! Loved the top bedroom & views out to the harbour - super comfy bedRead more as well! Not much living space downstairs but it was perfect for 2 of us and 1 dog - may be cramped for any more people. Would recommend :) thanks Hide

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage location couldnt be better- 2 minutes walk to the harbour and most pubs and restaurants. Even though the location was central it was really quiet. We only ate in once but found everything we needed and felt the cottage was very well equipped. The underfloor heating was lovely in a very cold May week! The liviRead moreng space is quite small so perfect for a couple but would be a bit cramped for any more. Also steep stairs so not ideal if any mobility issues. Hide
