Property code: ISLVI

This property is located with idyllic lakes and wooded countryside a stones throw away. Although it feels very quiet and rural, the property is only one mile from the market town of South Molton, where visitors will find a tempting chocolate factory, a heritage museum, and the Quince Honey Farm, home to a large exhibition of honey bees, allowing visitors to look right inside the hives, as well as a cafe and a children’s soft play area. Further afield, Exmoor National Park is easily accessible and just a few miles a north of the property, offering scenic walks and cycle ways which lead right down to the Somerset coast. For many a trip to the West Country would be incomplete without a trip to the beach, and the two mile wide stretch of sand at Westward Ho! is within an easy thirty minute drive of the property.

This lodge-style accommodation is accessed via three external steps which lead to the private veranda, from which guests enter the open-plan living area, which comprises a lounge/kitchen/diner. Here guests can make themselves immediately at home on the comfortable sofas which are arranged in front of the stylish stainless steel woodburner. There is also Smart TV in this area, as well as views across the surrounding grounds. Behind the lounge area the kitchen/diner has a table seating four and a contemporary kitchen with everything guests will need, including an oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine. The property’s two bedrooms both have a light and airy feel, with wooden floors, and tasteful pine furniture. The first of these is a king-size room with an en-suite shower room and WC, whilst the second room is a delightful twin. The bathroom has a shower over bath, and WC. Outside, there are two raised patio areas, one just off the lounge and the other off the dining area, one of which has a table and chairs, a BBQ, and relaxing loungers. Beyond this, there is a lovely woodland garden, and of course, the lakes themselves. There is also a storage shed available for boots, outdoor clothes, etc. The lodge is set away from the main farmhouse on the south side of the lake, carefully positioned to ensure maximum privacy.

Please note, there is no access to fishing on the lakes when booking this lodge

Great place! Recommended! We stayed for a week with 2 kids (5 years old and 6 weeks old) and it was fantastic. Close to seaside and decent attractions. Have not tried the fishing but did not see anybody pull anything out.

The Lodge and its location exceeded our expectations. The accommodation was so spacious, warm, clean and very comfortable. The location was superb in terms of its outlook over the lakes, little or no light pollution at night so dark skies, bright stars and quiet, oh so quiet. 5 minute easy drive into South Molton or a 20 minute walk, either way eveRead morerything you need within a very short distance. Wildlife in abundance if you provide the food for the bird feeders. Fabulous place Hide

Lovely relaxing week just what we needed. Lodge is comfortable and warm. Great view over the lake we loved watching all the wild/bird life. If you stay here you need to take bird feed to replenish the feeders we didnt know this The lodge is a little tired and could do with a deep clean. It was acceptable to walk into, unpack and relax.

As a first time visitor, Island View is in a lovely, quiet location - ideal for those seeking R & R or being a base to explore the North Devon beaches. Although the lodge is set in the grounds around a fishing lake, this should not deter any non fisherman from booking this property. It's in lovely, peaceful surroundings and the owner has created fantastic gardens around the lakes which are very well looked after. The property itself is set in the countryside and on the extremity of South Molton. IRead moret is spacious and has all the items required for a comfortable stay, with a supermarket only a couple of minutes drive away for provisions. Hide

Another fantastic visit. Lodge is absolutely perfect!!! The only thing we could possibly complain about is that the time at Island View goes much too quickly!! We will return as soon as we possibly can.
