A beautiful eighteenth century cottage ideal for couples set on the edge of a delightful village of Wedmore with easy access to the whole of Somerset.

Wedmore is a thriving village in the heart of the Somerset countryside. It boasts a farm shop, a deli, chemist, fishmonger/ greengrocer, village stores and shops as well as three pubs all serving good food, an Indian restaurant/takeaway and some lovely clothes and gift shops. These are all a 20-minute walk along the original Anglo Saxon "road" at the front of the cottage. You can cycle or drive in a few minutes. In the winter months huge flocks of starlings can be seen across the sky before coming to roost in the reed beds on the Somerset Levels. Golf, clay pigeon shooting, and fishing are available locally. Other places to visit include The City of Wells with its Cathedral and Bishops Palace, the mystical town of Glastonbury with its Tor and the Abbey, Cheddar Gorge and caves, Wookey Hole and Clarkes Village outlet shopping. Bristol and Bath are within an hour’s drive and there are many houses and gardens such as Tyntesfield (NT) and Longleat. Or maybe a day at the races at either Wincanton, Taunton or Chepstow.

Tucked away, and with fantastic views across the fields to the Mendip Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), A truly gorgeous open-plan home stay, with separate kitchen, bathroom and outside cottage courtyard garden. Upon entry you will find a beautifully specified white kitchen with Corian worktop set against the original farmhouse wall with all its imperfections and intrigue. Kitchen appliances include a microwave oven with integrated grill, two ring electric hob, fridge and everyday kitchen essentials. Through to the bathroom, which is fitted with a luxury shower, Victorian style suite and vintage cabinet with towels and essentials. Organic and local Bramley hand soap is here for you to enjoy. It is also available to purchase should you love it as much as the owners do. Next door you'll find space for hanging clothes in an open framed wardrobe. Through and up one step to the open plan living and sleeping space with vaulted ceiling warmed by an 8KW log burner, one load of Somerset seasoned logs are provided for the duration of your stay. If you require more these can be purchased for £10 per load inclusive of fire lighters and kindling. In addition, reclaimed pine floor rescued from a building in London feels soft underfoot. The finishing touches are particularly special. The king size pine bed with luxurious memory foam and sprung mattress is set against the whitewashed exposed stone wall and custom headboard hanging. Scatter cushions and Egyptian cotton bedding ensures you'll enjoy a deep, restorative night’s sleep. Fireside armchairs are ideally positioned to snuggle up and make the most of the cosy burner on colder days. Would you like shopping brought in for you so you don't have to worry about buying it en route, advice on the best walks and local pubs, the owners are on hand and happy to help. In addition, binoculars, brollies and Ordnance Survey maps will be left for you.
