This property enjoys a peaceful location with an abundance of walks on its doorstep. Take a lovely stroll over the owners’ land and picnic next to the picturesque river. The small hamlet of Wincle is home to the Ship Inn, a family-friendly pub serving locally sourced dishes and also a local brewery – why not book on to the Brewery tour on a Saturday? The property sits just 5 miles down the road from Sutton, where guests can collect groceries and supplies for their stay. It is also within 15 miles of Alton Towers Theme Park for those seeking some adventure for the day.

The property is accessed into the spacious kitchen area, which is open-plan to the lounge and dining areas. The kitchen is beautifully finished, with sleek white units, a marble top, slate floor and striking red splashback tiles. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of utensils to create a superb meal. In contrast, the lounge area reflects this property’s history, with exposed ceiling beams, oak flooring and a large inglenook fireplace with wood burner. A large oak dining table sits in the centre of this room, enjoying views through the French windows. The lounge is perfectly decorated and provides cosy sofas in front of the wood burner where you can sit back and watch a film. A ground floor cloakroom with utility amenities complete this floor along with an additional WC. Upstairs, the two bedrooms both have king-size wrought iron beds and stunning en-suite shower rooms. They have been decorated in a charming rustic style with whitewashed floorboards and furniture, creating a calming space. Perfect property for a holiday in a beautiful area. The very friendly hosts provided a unique and generous welcome pack. The house is well equipped, with many decorative, homely touches as well.

We spent a wonderful week in Otters Retreat, a beautifully presented, well equipped cottage with spectacular views. The owners went the extra mile with a great selection of treats on arrival including homemade cake and jam (we particularly enjoyed the quail eggs). Otters Retreat is a lovely, spacious cottage in a great location, enjoying spectacular views from the front terrace. It was spotlessly clean for our visit and very well equipped. Additional nice touches were the complimentary food and drink items left by Angela and Ian for our arrival. A truly fantastic place to relax with stunning views and the added bonus of Angela and Ian being the warmest, kindest hosts! Beautiful cottage, perfect location for walks (and the pub/ brewery), superb scenery.... Highly recommend a walk to Hanging Stones and a trip to Blue John Cavern and Chatsworth House. We also spent a couple of days relaxing around the cottage with a jigsaw looking out over the fields

A beautifully rural location with stunning views of hanging stone. Owners Ian and Angela are perfect hosts and lovely people. Great pub in very easy walking distance and a brewery a few yards further on. Great for a quiet and homely base to explore the peak district from.

Absolutely loved our stay at Otters Retreat, was made to feel very welcome and welcomed by some yummy treats. Plenty of beautiful walks and a lovely pub and brewery a short walk away. The kids really enjoyed their stay and giving Nancy plenty of fuss. Hope to visit again in the future.

This cottage is perfect if youre looking to be able to walk from the door on many different walks, or just enjoy the views and tranquility. . This is a beautiful cottage with very friendly and helpful owners. It's a lovely place to stay. Best for hikers and walkers as there aren't many places to visit nearby. Angela made a delicious teacake - we really enjoyed that! We had a very restful and relaxing break.

For 3 adults it was ideal, with a picture perfect location and luxury, space and privacy of separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The cottage was beautifully furnished and well equipped the best Ive stayed in. The cooker has an induction hob, with a pacemaker I couldnt use it.
