Set within the peaceful Gloucestershire village of Mitcheldean, this charming cottage is the perfect getaway for relaxing and exploring the Forest of Dean.

Tucked away behind the striking 17th century village church, Platts Cottage is ideally located for discovering the delights of Gloucestershire. This pretty end terrace is in a quiet location where you’ll be able to relax, but you have the best of both worlds with the village amenities a short walk away. Mitcheldean is at the gateway to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and you’ll be surrounded by nature, heritage and if you want it; adventure! Known for its walks and outdoor activities, the area is home to such features as the Sculpture Trail, the Dean Heritage Centre and the scenic river at Symonds Yat where you can look for the nesting Peregrine Falcons or view the magnificent Tintern Abbey ruins.

This cosy cottage is light and spacious and has been very comfortably furnished and well equipped by the owners. The lounge has a feature inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and Freeview TV/DVD. The cosy kitchen/diner is well equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, coffee machine, fridge with ice box and washing machine. In the utility room there is a freezer. Completing the ground floor is the shower room with WC. Upstairs the attractive double bedroom with TV, has views to the village church. Stepping outside you will find the lovely enclosed walled cottage garden to the rear with patio area, seating and a lawn with established shrubs and plants. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a bit of al fresco dining and if you’re bringing your family pet on holiday with you, they will be secure too. There’s also a handy bike store. Parking for the cottage is nearby and guests can purchase a weekly ticket from the car park.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Very comfortable, cosy and quiet. Gorgeous large walled garden, so ideal for dogs. Lots of additional touches make you feel welcome. One of the best cottages we've stayed in.

Lovley welcoming cottage home from home. Joanne made our stay even better with lovley homemade cake and treats. The cottage and garden are beautiful. The village is peaceful. Very good bus service. It's not hard to get around like some locations. We are walkers we had a amazing stay.

Well equipped little cottage with lovely sunny garden. Easy access to the beautiful Forest of Dean. Great for dogs. Co-Op 2 mins and Fish and Chip Shop. Local park for dog excercise 3 mins.

The cottage is well equipped and the garden was very good size and Sucre this was important for us as our lurcher Kevin could be let out without us worrying about him getting out of the garden There is a co op across the road And a good area to walk the dog next to the communite centre with poo bags provided there was lots of nice little touches thRead moreroughout the cottage such as tea, coffee ,flour and other bits in the kitchen nice cake and milk in the fridge so you can have a drink on arrival Hide

Gorgeous, quirky little cottage. Very warm and cosy with a lovely garden. Traditionally decorated but with modern amenities. Lovely and quiet and a great location for Ross and Hereford.

Just returned from a lovely week in the Forest of Dean, the cottage is perfect for a couple and our dog loved the enclosed garden and walks nearby. The cottage is kitted out with everything you could need and I can highly recommend it.

A small but perfectly formed cottage. The highlight was a lovely large fully enclosed garden that was escape proof to our dogs. Very well equipped, very clean and the owner went the extra mile with the bits and pieces to welcome us - cake biscuits, fresh flowers etc. The kitchen was also well stocked with a little of all the essentials. What a fabulous and most importantly, for four legged friends, totally secure garden. Then to add to this there is an open field within a couple of minutes walk that is ideal for exercising dogs off the lead. Our dog (Bobbi) a Cavalier King Charles settled in quickly and a lovely touch from the owner to leave treats for Bobbi and for ourselves! Found the cottage to be comfortable and well equipped , received a warm welcome on our arrival. And appreciated the welcome pack ( lovely lemon drizzle cake ) and doggie treats .
