An interesting ‘upside-down’ style property, conveniently located in the village of West Camel. The village boasts a local pub and a bakery nearby and also many countryside walks, perfect for a quiet Sunday stroll. Located close to the Somerset/Dorset border, you are within easy reach of the historic towns of Castle Cary, Bruton and Sherborne with its famous castles. Many day trips are within easy reach of the property such as, the National Trust site of Stourhead, The Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum, Hauser & Wirth art gallery, Glastonbury with its Tor, Clarks Village at Street and Longleat Safari Park. If you fancy a trip to the seaside slightly further afield you will find Brean, Weston-Super-Mare or Burnham-on-Sea on the Somerset coast or Lyme Regis, West Bay or Charmouth on the Dorset coast. There is also the option to enjoy the owner's 4 acres of farmland, just a short stroll from the property, where you can meet the chickens, pigs and lambs.

Upon entering this property, the stairs will lead you up to the spacious lounge/dining area, the high ceilings offer a real feeling of space. Relax after a long day and pick up a good book or challenge each other to a board game. Alternatively pop a film on and snuggle up. (sofa bed available on request) Leading off from the lounge/diner you will find the kitchen where you can cook up a storm, fitted with a cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. Downstairs you will find the relaxing double bedroom which has patio doors to the enclosed patio seating area. There is also the en-suite shower/wet room and WC.

Venturing outside you will find the enclosed garden/patio area perfect for sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. Heated dog kennels are available on request for a donation to the owner’s charity. Dog washing area on site.

A lovely sized cottage, well equipped & in a lovely quiet village location. Loved our days out to Cheddar Gorge, Street (Clarkes Outlet Village) & Stourhead (National Trust) Our dogs Millie & Dougie also had a great weeks holiday.

A lovely cottage in what is the friendliest village I have ever visited. Sarah is a wonderful host and made Poppy and I so welcome. The cottage is equipped with everything you could wish for and feels so homely. We stayed at polo cottage 22nd - 27th September in West Camel. It was beautiful, clean and felt home from home. The bedroom was downstairs and lounge & kitchen were upstairs. There was a TV and very large book case with a variety of books and games. We were welcomed by Sarah who is very friendly and showed us around the cottage and happy to help wiRead moreth any questions. The walnut tree pub is about a 5 min walk away and serves lovely food. The cottage is in a lovely village, we appreciated the quiet location which was a stones throw to the pub which was dog friendly and great food. The cottage had a great cozy feel, and the upside down logistics (kitchen and living space upstairs and bedroom and bathroom downstairs was great.

Polo cottage was a great find just what we wanted for a short half term break. Sarah the owner was very welcoming and showed us around the cottage and if we wanted anything while we were there just ask as the owner lives on site but do not intrude on your privacy. Camel is a good place for a base as theres a nice pub in the village and nice dog walRead moreks , you can explore Somerset Dorset and Devon all within an hour or two drive which we did. Such a beautiful cottage, with authentic feel, some nice wooden furniture and a gorgeous original wooden beam in the bedroom ceiling. The welcome & hospitality are likewise, authentic and make the stay enjoyable. The self catering facilities in the kitchen are v good, slightly cut down due to covid.
