Cosy stone-built cottage opposite the sand dunes of Druridge Bay. Perfect for family holidays, this property at the edge of a farm offers alpaca rides and animals on your doorstep.

This luxurious, stone-built holiday cottage enjoys an enviable location opposite the golden sand dunes of Druridge Bay beach. On the edge of a family-run farm, you'll have a whole Noah's Ark of animals as neighbours as well as the opportunity to book an alpaca trek in the surrounding countryside. A stone's throw from the market town of Amble with its excellent restaurants and shops, it is also home to some pretty villages with historical monuments, as well as Coquet Island, where the amazing wildlife is only a boat trip away.

As you enter the property, you will find a boot room, perfect for leaving shoes, wellies and dog leads as well as a shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. There is a fully-fitted country kitchen complete with oak beams and sandstone floors; appliances include electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Here there is also a dining area for four guests. Next door there is a comfortable lounge area with sofa and armchairs, TV/DVD and a bookcase filled with books and games to enjoy in the cottage. The focal point of this room is the gorgeous wood burning stove, perfect for a cosy evening in. The lounge leads to a porch area and enclosed garden with views to the gardens and fields beyond.

Stairs lead up to a bright and spacious master bedroom with double bed and a pretty twin room with views over the bay towards Coquet Island. There is a bathroom with bath, wash basin and WC.

Outside, there is a lovely lawned garden enclosed with a stone-built wall, perfect if you have a canine companion with you. Here you can dine with a view as the dining area overlooks the beautiful sand dunes beyond. There is off-road parking on the drive for 1 car with additional parking available.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Poppy Cottage, like the rest of Northumberland, is a hidden gem. The cottage is very well equipped and for those wanting a break from the rat race, waking up to the mooing of cows in the next field and a beautiful sunrise at the front of the property, from over the dunes, is quite something. Nice welcoming touches too from the owners who live next Read moredoor - with a cake, milk and eggs (and tea/coffee etc) all ready and waiting for our arrival. Perfect location, beaches, castles, Kielder, shops.... Hide

Poppy cottage was warm and spacious and well equipped. The beach is just across a field from the cottage. We enjoyed lovely long walks with our dog. We were visiting family who live locally so spent most of the time meeting up with family either in the cottage or their homes.

Poppy Cottage is very clean and welcoming. This is our 25th year visiting Northumberland and again despite the weather had a great time. Visited Cragside, Belsay and Wallington. Impressed with the improvement in Amble. It is a welcoming port. Overall loads of places to visit not long enough to do everything.

A beautiful cottage well equipped and clean in a great location. The beach is quiet and clean, great and safe for young kids. Attractions like Alnwick garden and the creepy Chillingham castle all within easy reach. Lovely seaside towns like Warkworth and Amble also close.

A beautiful location and a peaceful spot, ideal for a get away from it all break. If you enjoy a good walk on the beach this is for you. You cannot but relax in this cottage, which is warm and cosy.
