The perfect bolthole for a relaxing break, this cottage with wood burner occupies a rural position overlooking fields, has additional space for children and easy access to Beaulieu and Bucklers Hard

This prestigious area is home to some of the New Forests best loved attractions, including the motor museum, abbey and palace house in Beaulieu, or perhaps explore the rich maritime history of the region and take a visit to Bucklers Hard, which is set beside the river. Local amenities can be found in the centre of Beaulieu village and there is a wide network of walks and cycling routes running nearby, enabling you to easily explore the picturesque landscape that this area is known for. Why not get out on the water and take a river cruise or head inland and explore one of the many attractive villages nearby

The property is accessed via a long, shared gravel driveway. Adjacent to the owners home yet with privacy assured, the entrance to this charming cottage is via a small path from the parking area. Once inside you are met with a pretty open-plan kitchen/diner, which has a gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. Heading further into the property you will find a spacious super king-size bedroom that has been decorated with care. Just opposite is a stylish bathroom with shower over bath and WC. Stairs lead from an inner hallway to the first floor, and the lounge. This characterful room has vaulted ceilings, a wood burner and smart TV. This inviting space is the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring as it has a sofa bed and an additional single cabin with porthole (each suitable for a child). A door leads from the lounge area to a balcony with wonderful views over the countryside a perfect spot for birdwatching or stargazing. A useful utility space can also be found in this room, which houses the washing machine.

Heading outside via the kitchen door you will find the garden. There is an area to dine on the lawn and parking for two vehicles on the adjacent gravel driveway.

Sophia is a kind & welcoming host and the cottage is very pretty, cosy and stylish. The gardens are lovely and peaceful and it felt a million miles from London as pheasants strolled around and deer peeked at us from the neighbouring field. The heating wasnt working which Sophia couldnt fix though she did try. The boiler (housed in the adjacent storRead moreeroom) is noisy & became annoying given we were a bit chilly! We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, cosy cottage. It is in a peaceful countryside location with lovely views to the front and rear of the property. The cottage has been beautifully decorated throughout and the upstairs lounge and balcony is ideal for deer and pheasant watching. We had a wonderful stay at Purnel cottage, Sophia is a very helpful and friendly host and the cottage is nicely decorated and quiet. With beautiful sunsets and dawn's with deer just crossing our path on the driveway. And reading by the fireplace made our holiday perfect.

A great week at this quirky little cottage! Spacious and well equipped, the cottage has so much character and a lovely owner for whom nothing is too much trouble. Truly a charming and beautiful cottage in an amazing setting and so peaceful - we would definitely return. The owners are next door which is very handy - they were delightful and so helpful. Upon arrival everyone will give this property a 5*. It's a lovely looking cottage, easy parking, warm welcome, spacious bedroom and upstairs living room and the views are great across the fields and trees. However, your 5* impression is whittled away during your stay by the annoyances of some of the features. We loved staying at Purnel cottage. It is a wonderfully decorated cottage with a ground floor bedroom, a comfortable lounge upstairs with a balcony overlooking the fields. Kitchen and bathroom were also very good. Sofia, the owner, was very kind and helpful so we are very happy to have chosen this cottage for our summer holiday.
