This lodge is one of nine on this peaceful private bay on the Solway Firth coastline. Castle Douglas has an abundance of amenities and is a great base to explore all that Dumfries has to offer. From romantic strolls along one of the beaches or a days golf at one of the many golf courses including Colvend and New Galoway and Dalbeatie to the more thrill seeking cycle trails climbing through the Galloway Forest, which is part of the popular 7 Stanes courses or a trip up to Loch Ken may tempt some water sport fanatics. Many a romantic day trip to be had at the many Castles and historic sites and gardens. Sweetheart Abbey close by sets a lovely scene and the popular Threave Castle and Gardens is close by has an abundance of amenities and is a great base to explore all that Dumfries has to offer. Step in to the hallway from the balcony and in to the bright and welcoming lounge/ kitchen/ dining area. A wonderful open plan space to spend together, cuddling up on the sofa watching TV or whiling the hours away looking out of the full height windows across the sea. The kitchen area is superbly thought out and equipped well with oven, hob, fridge/ freezer, microwave, dishwasher and even a wine cooler. There is a dining table to sit and enjoy a romantic meal together. The bedroom can be found off the hallway and also enjoys sea views, with a patio door opening out on to the balcony. The bedroom flows in to the large en-suite with bath and separate shower and WC. There are even two handbasins. Also off the hallway is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and a separate W/C

Spend your time on the patio area for a dip in the hot tub or sit and relax with a glass of wine and listen to the peaceful sound of the sea.

Best lodge we have stayed in over the last few years.Very well equipped with everything you need.Furnishings,bedding,towels etc are of a high quality.Always love a dressing gown.The hot tub was perfect.As has been said before theres it's a wee bit remote so take all provisions.Would love to stay in the summer and enjoy the outdoor space more.

Just an amazing place to stay. Relaxing and away from it all - just pure heaven. The views and sunrises are wonderful, and the lodge is so cosy and homely. Our 2nd time visiting and we will definitely be back again.

Love these cottages! TBH this isn't for folks who want active holidays, there is walking, quiet and the sea which is just what I wanted. It is remote, so be prepared to drive as there are no supermarkets, shops, restaurants etc. Not a bad thing, just be prepared.

What a wonderful place to stay lodge 2 was. We were able to chill and relax and watch the wildlife, including deer, hare, rabbits, birds and a seal family.

Ideal situation for anyone wanting an away from it all break, if you dont mind the remoteness and a bit of a bumpy access road . The lodge is perfect, quiet, with spectacular views across the Solway Firth to Cumbria on a clear day. We even had a brief visit from a roe deer, just a few metres from the lodge. Visited twice last year, and once ( so fRead morear ! ) this year. We think that says it all, cant wait to return. Hide

Great location set in a beautiful rural location with access to walks and outstanding natural beauty nearby. The accommodation has everything you need and is ideally positioned next to the sea which provides a greta backdrop. The owners are great and available nearby should you need!

This stunning cottage was 5 star all the way. Very private, with everything you needed and some lovely touches. Flowers and sweets with wine on our arrival. Everything you could ever need and the view as good as the cottage. Will definitely be back

Second time visiting and loved it as much. Sitting looking out on the view in all weathers is wonderful and in the hot tub looking at the stars with a glass or two is even better. Beautiful place to stay but the water issue should be mentioned in the booking ( luckily we took bottle water ) shops are a car journey away and to eat somewhere decent its a 10 mile drive ( we didnt mind as we also live rurally ) the walks and views were amazing
