This beautiful barn conversion is perfectly situation for an idyllic retreat in the countryside. It provides a great base to explore unspoilt countryside, the Jurassic coast and enjoy local Devonshire cream teas. Beneath the distinctive red cliffs and green hills of the Sid Valley is the nearby seaside town of Sidmouth, known for its timeless charm and folk music festivals. Family attractions nearby include the many beaches and towns of Branscombe for sea swims and a great starting point to walk over to Beer. Charmouth for fossil hunting, and The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth. Crealy Adventure Park and Escot  Wildwood provide a full day of entertainment for all the family. The River Otter close by meanders its way via Ottery St Mary down to the estuary in Budleigh Salterton and is a good place to spot wildlife including kingfishers, otters and even beavers. There is even Alpaca Trekking from a neighbouring farm which is so popular with children and adults alike.

As you enter the barn you are greeted by the large and airy open-plan kitchen/dining area. Spectacular floor to ceiling windows and glass double doors lead out to an enclosed back garden. Next to the dining area is a cosy lounge where guests can snuggle in front of the wood burner after a long day of exploring or open the doors on a warm summers evening and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The kitchen is well-equipped for budding cooks should you choose to bring back local ingredients from the nearby farm shops, the local butcher or fresh fish from the coast. A couple of steps lead down to the utility room which has its own entrance from outside and provides storage for muddy wellingtons, and a door leads from here to the bathroom with bath and WC. From the front door, an open staircase leads to the first floor which has two tranquil bedrooms, one double and one twin, and there is also a shower room with WC. The barn has been designed with ultimate comfort for any season in mind.

Heading outside via the double doors you find an enclosed rear garden with furniture and a BBQ/Firepit. There are two allocated parking spaces outside the barn.

We had a lovely Christmas here, surrounded by beautiful countryside. House is well kept, homely and has everything you need. Close to Sidmouth and Sidford and a visit to the donkey sanctuary is a must.

This was our second stay at Sweetcombe Roost and we look forward to when we can return again. Everything was perfect, the setting, the furnishings, the equipment and appliances, we cannot fault anything. The surroundings are beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The welcome pack was excellent and we both enjoyed a full cream tea on arrival. Food provided prompted a mental note - pack less for any future visit! Very spacious accommodation in a quiet countryside location. Well equipped and very comfortable with a lovely patio area and garden . Great place to chill out or visit other places around the area. Beautiful cottage supplied with all the amenities you would need. Very welcoming guests who are on hand if you need anything . Location is great for visits in and around the Jurassic coast. Would highly recommend .

The underfloor heating can feel a little overwhelming but other than this we had a great week. Fantastic location from our perspective but its a drive to everywhere so it might not suit everyone. All in all we had a great week away and would go again.

Lovely bright clean barn conversion with everything one needs. Enjoyed log burner and underfloor heating - both made the barn very warm and cosy. Thanks for the cream tea on arrival - much appreciated and enjoyed. Our dog enjoyed curling up in the throw provided, in front of the log burner! Beds comfortable and the property had a good shower. This is an excellent well-equipped cottage, with more than enough room for four people and a dog. We appreciated the enclosed south-facing garden and patio area, which was a real suntrap, even in October. We wouldnt hesitate to return to Sweetcombe Roost. Set in an idyllic countryside farm setting with only calves, deer and other wildlife as company. Peaceful and relaxing. Tranquility at its best, an idyllic cottage in the most incredible location, we had a fantastic holiday, the owners were so welcoming and accommodating and provided lovely little touches throughout our stay, I cannot recommend this cottage enough.

Lovely, comfortable cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside. Loved having the calves as our neighbours! This property was booked before the Covid pandemic but was worth the 2 year wait to finally get there.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location, a perfect spot for us to take our two small grandchildren and our dog. The accommodation was very comfortable with everything you could think thoughtfully provided. Dog friendly beaches nearby and stunning countryside walks we all enjoyed a very happy holiday over the jubilee half term.
