This 2 bedroom coastal retreat is perfect for a couple or a small family. The cottage has been tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. Located in the pretty, fishing village of Appledore, this cosy cottage is 2 minutes' walk from the quayside and village shops.

Hidden in the quaint streets of Appledore you will discover the many galleries and local artist's studios. Visit the maritime museum, take a trip on the river or simply stroll down to the quayside to watch the world go by. In the evening, either dine in one of the local pubs and restaurants or retreat to the privacy of the cottage . . Westward Ho! is a short drive away, and with 2 miles of sandy beach, is ideal for swimming or surfing. The nearby town of Bideford offers a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an historic quayside and art museum. Local attractions include The Big Sheep, Tapeley Park, The Milky Way, Rosemoor Gardens and Dartington Crystal.

Stepping in the spacious ground floor is open-plan offering exposed beams, comfortable seating, wood burner, flatscreen TV and DVD. The kitchen area is modern and fully equipped with attention to detail throughout and door leading to dining room. The dining room is located at the back of the property in the conservatory with double doors opening onto the decked area. Upstairs are the two bedrooms, one king-size with TV and 1 single both tastefully decorated and light and airy.  The shower room also on first floor with heated towel rail and WC. 

Outside is an enclosed decked area with garden furniture perfect for sitting out enjoying a cool drink.

Appledore is a great location as is the accommodation. The Deckhouse is excellent - we enjoyed the wood burning stove. Great shower & beautifully decorated. Parking on the seafront but winding up through the lanes and up One End Street is worthwhile. You wont be disappointed. Book The Yard Restaurant in advance. The Deckhouse was warm and tidy and the bed was comfortable (the sofa was not). Unfortunately, I had to deal with ants coming into the kitchen, and while The Deckhouse was a snug and cosy place to be, this spoiled my time there. This was of course not the owners' fault. Lovely and comfy cottage, great location , fabulous bed, kitchen well equipped, really enjoyed it. Comfy sofas and a smart tv. Street parking even in oct/nov not really possible but car park is close 22.50 for a week so fine. Great pubs , couple of restaurants on your doorstep . Appledore is such a lovely little place with Instow across the estuary for a fabulous beach. I would advise that the house is at the end of End Lane and to use a trolley to carry luggage etc. The deckhouse is a beautiful little place we'll kept and looked after. Plenty big enough for 3 adults and one dog had a fabulous week. Will hopefully revisit

Great location for a really comfortable little cottage. Everything felt sparkling clean and lovely. Fab bed, well equipped kitchen and enough space to spread out at the end of a day exploring. Go, youll love it!

The property is well situated for the town and we had no problem parking despite no parking available at the property.

Lovely place in a lovely Devon village. Second time here and it is a real get away from it all. The cottage is a home from home and set at the end of a quiet pedestrian street. I am sure I will go again.

The cottage is lovely and well equipped with the owners providing great instructions for directions and keys. Its in a great location and theres loads of amenities with local store for groceries on the Quay, two fish and chip shops, pubs, restaurants and plenty of parking. Highly recommend

Nice cottage, friendly neighbours and community. Johns excellent for food and deli. Good restaurants, need to book early at busy times. Recommend travelling light as a bit of a trek with bags from car. Beaches great, Maritime Museum well worth a visit.

Loved our 2 weeks at the cottage. Everything you need is provided. The garden is a sun trap and though small is well laid out and perfect to sit in for a day away from exploring. We found the cottage was like a home from home. One thing that I was glad I'd arranged was a home delivery from the supermarket. No need to carry shopping up the small hilRead morel. A lovely, clean and pretty cottage in a really great location in Appledore. We really enjoyed having everything close to hand in the village and there are some very good restaurants and shops to enjoy. Lovely to walk to the Burrows and onto the the beach, we did go further afield to Hartland Quay and Point for more dramatic and scenic coastal walksRead more.
