Enjoying a rural location among three acres of landscaped gardens and being tastefully designed, this property is just perfect for couples looking to get away and enjoy Cumbria throughout the year.

There are many miles of walks to be enjoyed in the area, catering to all fitness levels, including scenic lakeside strolls and challenging hikes and climbs. The most famous of the lakes, Windermere, is accessed via the ferry situated just a short drive from the property and is a great place to enjoy browsing the shops and perhaps stocking up on picnic supplies before spending a day on the water. Around the lake there are several places to hire boats and other watercrafts or to hop on board one of the leisure cruises which run up and down the water at a relaxing pace, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the beautiful surroundings. There is abundance of birdlife, plenty of activities and cycle rides straight from the door.

Guests will immediately get a sense of just how special this property is, as soon as they climb the steps and enter the grand hallway with its imposing staircase. To the right is the apartment on the ground floor. The main space in this studio-style apartment itself is made up of the stunning lounge/kitchen/diner/sleeping area with large bay window. The lounge area makes the most of the views from the bay window, with comfortable sofa and chair, where you can relax after day of exploring and watch the TV/DVD. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge with ice compartment, everything you require for holiday dining and to help with the cleaning after, a dishwasher. The stylish bedroom area with feature canopy effect and open fire provides a cosy place to snuggle up in the double bed, in front of the fire. Finishing the accommodation is the bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Outside there are extensive shared gardens with plenty of space to relax and again, stunning views and a footpath leads directly from the grounds up to Claife Heights. There is also off-road parking for one car. Guests also have access to a shared utility area with two washing machines and two tumble dryers in the main property.

Lovely property with a fantastic view. Good base for walking to Bowness, the ferry is only a mile away. Also, Hawkshead and Ambleside are within walking distance.

A beautiful apartment small but well equipped kitchen, and a good sized bathroom with bath/shower, plenty of hot water. Very quiet, and very relaxing location within easy reach of Windermere and Hawkshead, and only a 10 minute walk down to the Cuckoo Brown pub. Perfect

This was very affordable, in a good location and clean. But kitchen appliances didnt work effectively so not a place for easy self-catering. Also the accommodation lacked privacy people from the car park could see in and anyone in the hall could easily overhear conversation, likewise the dog heard everyone come and go and was frequently disturbed iRead moren the night. Initial impressions good. Warm and comfortable. Superb location and views. However, lots of improvements are needed. The kitchen is tiny and has minimal usable work surfaces. No oven gloves were provided. Light bulbs in main room were missing, dysfunctional or just dim. The hot tap for bath gives no water (shower is OK). Loved the historical building and grounds. Rather comfortable, but husband found settee too low. (He suffers with his back). Bath lovely and big but had a bit of trouble with hot water tap.

Beautiful suite in part of a large county house. We had a lovely stay in the clean and comfortable apartment. Stunning views from the windows, including rabbits and bats in the garden. A beautiful area to stay, with both the Bowness ferry and Hilltop within walking distance for the fit [steep hills]. This part of the Windermere area is very quiet.
