The stunning property forms part of a historic Manor dating back to c.1050, nestling in 750 acres of grounds, and provides a perfect base for couples wanting to explore the whole of Devon and beyond.

Conveniently situated, it is possible to walk into the village of Dolton, and this is steeped in history and boasts a village shop and Post Office, local butcher and a choice of pub. On the other side of the property, you will find the king-size bedroom with stunning antique French bed frame, and sitting next to this is the shower room with underfloor heating and WC, period style bathroom furniture and a custom made glass and oak framed shower surround.

The cottage is in a lovely location overlooking the countryside hence it means travelling along narrow country lanes but certainly worth it.

We had a lovely stay at The Gatehouse even though the weather was not good. The grounds were beautifully kept, as was the cottage. The boot/utility room was very handy for hanging wet coats and boots. We had some nice meals in the Globe Inn, Rams Head and Dukes Head which are short car ride away.

A beautiful and quiet getaway with superb surroundings. Like home from home, but better, which left us feeling as though we didnt want to leave. If you are looking for a quiet base from which to enjoy the countryside, it would be difficult to do better than the Gatehouse.

A very comfortable accommodation, we did not need anything else. Although we did say in the review we would be back on second thoughts the stairs were rather steep for a pair of 73 year olds who are obviously not getting any younger! We would probably not return however did we enjoy our stay . . . a redoubtable Yes.
