This beautifully presented period cottage would make an idyllic hideaway for a romantic getaway for two.
This spectacular area of natural beauty is unsurprisingly popular among keen walkers, with wonderful mountain, valley and lakeside routes on the doorstep. From the hamlet of Kentmere, a track leads to a splendid collection of mountain tops including Thornthwaite Crag, Froswick, High Street, Mardale Ill Bell and Harter Fell. Three miles from the cottage is the village of Staveley, which boasts typical Lakeland stone buildings, the Rivers Kent and Gowan, a beautiful church and selection of shops and inns. Also within easy reach is iconic Windermere, with its literary history, bustling centre and beautiful lake, while Kendal offers larger stores, supermarkets, art galleries, a theatre and cinema.
This delightful detached cottage is one of three properties huddled in this peaceful valley location. Leave muddy boots and coats in the small boot room area before continuing through to the farmhouse style kitchen. With a large dining table, Aga, exposed beams and quirky vintage touches, this is a charming room for enjoying candle-lit suppers. After meals, step through to the inviting sitting room where an inglenook fireplace with roaring wood burner, stylish sofas and cosy rugs await. From the small hall, stairs lead up to the king-size bedroom, which features a Victorian cast-iron bed, antique furniture and spectacular valley views through a charming sash window. The compact yet stylish bathroom next door has a handheld shower.
Outside, the communal gardens are rich in colour and scent during spring and summer. Take to one of the wooden benches to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or evening drink with a view. Or, if you’re feeling inspired, why not set up an easel in the adjoining open barn and paint the stunning view?
