The area is home to beautiful mountains, hills, lochs and waterfalls, and the road to Loch Ewe is listed as one of the top ten most scenic drives in the world.

Enter this fabulous detached property that has been tastefully decorated, to find the lovely lounge with floor to ceiling windows which captures its perfect setting. A visit to this corner of Scotland wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Inverewe Garden (1 mile). Managed by the National Trust for Scotland, wander through the rare species and colourful blooms of this extraordinary botanic garden, created in the 19th-century. There’s also a museum and gallery, and a cafe for a light bite in between exploring.

At The Perfume Studio (9.5 miles), browse the selection of locally crafted soaps and scents on offer in the shop, perfect as a thoughtful souvenir for friends and family. When you’ve made your purchases, order lunch in the cafe and then enjoy the drive back along the scenic road that follows the coast.

Nearby, the village of Gairloch (6 miles) is the starting point for a variety of outdoor activities. Book on a boat trip and set off from the bay to spot local wildlife, that includes whales, otters, seals, and porpoises, or head out with a local fisherman to return with a fresh catch. At the Gairloch Trekking Centre, you can experience riding along a sandy beach, an unforgettable way to spend an afternoon together.

Further afield, buy picnic essentials from Poolewe village shop and drive to Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (23 miles). Find out more about the area at the visitor centre before setting off on one of the many trails.
