A unique opportunity to stay in this Pullman railway carriage. A wonderful couples retreat sat on the banks of the River Marron with wonderful river views from the carriage.

Ullock is a great starting point to explore the Western Lake District and coast. There are an abundance of stunning countryside walks from the doorstep. Loweswater Lake, and Ennerdale Water are a short drive away, both lakes enjoy a certain solitude that can sometimes be hard to find in the Lake District. There are a couple of pubs within a few miles of the cottage, so there's no need to argue over the washing up. For shops, Cockermouth is close by and has a wide variety of small independent shops, pubs and cafes. Here you can take a tour round the Jennings Brewery or visit the Kirkgate Centre which doubles up as a theatre and cinema. This unique property was also featured in Country Living magazine in Feb 2019.

Stepping up a small flight of metal stairs which lead you to the entrance of the carriage. The lounge area welcomes you with open arms with comfortable seating surrounded by windows which overlook the river. There is a TV/DVD in the lounge area providing the perfect escape to relax in after a day exploring the local countryside. There is also a quirky  bar so don’t forget to bring a bottle of fizz to celebrate that special occasion. Leading through to the kitchen area with a contrasting bright and airy theme with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, Tassimo coffee machine and gas oven and hob. Heading along the carriage and the next spot is a traditional carriage booth with seating, a really unique spot for breakfast. There is a dressing cabin with dressing table where you can store your bags and hang your clothes. Leading along to the bedroom, which is a snug space consumed by the romantic bespoke double bed. To the end of the carriage is the shower-room with WC.

Outside there is a raised decking area accessed from the side of the carriage with bistro seating and wonderful views over the river. There is off-road parking for two cars. There is also a stunning walk along the river on the private land of the property for you to enjoy.

The Railway carriage is a super place to stay and in an excellent location for exploring some less popular lakes and hills. It has been very tastefully restored and is very comfortable and well appointed. We strongly recommend it for train lovers and others alike!

Quirky railway carriage in gorgeous setting. Very peaceful and the perfect place to get away from it all. Carriage is amazing and fitted out to the highest standard. Some vintage decor to fit in with the era the Pullman was from. Highly recommend it

The railway carriage is stunning inside and out. Set in beautiful countryside with a picturesque river close by (but the carriage is on an embankment so no risk of flooding). The experience of staying in the Railway Carriage was great. The reception we received from the owners was just the start to a wonderful week. The standard of the facilities, the surrounding area, and the freedom to experience a very different type of accommodation made for a holiday that will be remembered as one of the best.

It was a very warm week which made the carriage uncomfortably hot at times although it always cooled enough to enable a good night's sleep. A fantastic place to stay we loved it.
