This awesome themed property sits in the beautiful North Devon Village of Abbotsham and is an ideal place for friends and families to enjoy a rural retreat. Relax, unwind and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the surroundings, plenty of walks on your doorstep and the breath-taking coastline is close by. Take a stroll to the thatched village pub where you can enjoy food and a warm atmosphere, or for those searching for a longer walk, why not walk part of the South West Coastal Path? Families can enjoy the many attractions close by offering fun for all.

This delightful property is arranged over one level and has been created offering rounded walls, exposed brickwork and an overall welcoming feel. Each room has been styled to mimic themes from a famous fantasy film series. On stepping through the circular door, you are greeted by an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need including an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. A separate utility room houses a washing machine and freezer as well as ample room for boots and coats. The dining area sits four comfortably and the lounge area has comfy seating and a wood burner, perfect for watching a film on the Smart TV. The two bedrooms both with TVs are situated at either end of the property and consist of a twin zip-and-link (which can be made into a super-king-size on request) and ample room for a travel cot and an en-suite shower room with shower and WC. The second bedroom is a double with en-suite shower room with shower and WC.

Heading outside, the property is an enclosed garden with patio garden furniture, charcoal BBQ and your own private hot tub, perfect to sit and relax after a busy day and enjoy views across open countryside, the driveway leads to the off-road parking for two cars.

Lovely place to stay. Owners were on hand if we needed anything but left us be (really useful with anxious dogs!) So close to the cliff coastal path and the welcome basket was a nice touch.

The cottage exceeded our expectations. We holiday in the UK a lot and the Secret Shire is by far the best equipped and most welcoming. The garden is great for the dogs and the hot tub is awesome. Lovely quirky cottage felt like you where in middle earth with all the attention to detail. The welcome baskets was such a nice surprise after a long drive The Thatched Inn down the road was great to have a walk to after a day on the beach the food was lovely or if not a relax in the hot tub. Would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

It is truly a remarkable place situated in a nice location. Plenty of places to visit in the local area. The hot tub outside is a great attraction. The area in front of the building is nicely paved and grassed as well as fenced to keep the dog safe . The frontage is a suntrap so besides going in the hot tub there is somewhere to enjoy the sunshine

Exceeded my expectations, everything was thought of, it was very clean, cosy & comfortable we had a great time. The welcome basket was a very lovely touch so was the chocolates left on the towels. We had an excellent time at the Hobbit hole! John was really good at communicating - had an issue with the hot water and John immediately came over and fixed it. On arrival we received a welcome basket which was lovely and very much appreciated. The accommodation was lovely. The hot tub had a few issues but the owners did everything to resolve as quickly as possible. A very lovely lovely week thank you.

Well situated just outside of Bideford, this quirky property exudes character. The Hobbit Hole is well equipped with everything that could be required. WiFi is not brilliant (around 2-3MB) but this place is for relaxing not working! Westward Ho! is a couple of miles away along the Coastal Path and the village of Appledore is well worth a visit.

The cottage is a lovely modern, clean and fresh place to stay. Walking distance to the coastal path. Pub nearby. If you visit in winter I doubt you will have any issues staying warm as even when it went to 1 degree at night it was lovely and warm inside. If you're contemplating going to the Hobbit Hole, do it. Its uniqueness, charm and locality make it an ideal base for a chilled, peaceful and relaxing holiday. The hot tub is a lovely added bonus. Everything you could need is there in this well-equipped cottage. There's even a Dolce Gusto coffee maker, (wish I'd known this before, as we took our owRead moren) and a few pods for good measure.
