This eco-friendly former barn is set within a rural village close to historic Sherborne. With both contemporary style and character features, it is the ideal choice for small families wishing to tour.

The peaceful, rural village of Middlemarsh is the ideal choice for those seeking relaxation as well as easy access to local attractions. Nearby Sherborne is rich in history and home to an Abbey, which dates to Saxon times, two castles and renowned schools. Its pretty centre has a great range of independent shops, ideal for an afternoon spent browsing. Dorset’s county town, Dorchester, is 11 miles to the south and has two cinemas, plus a long high street lined with numerous coffee bars, shops and eateries. This part of rural Dorset has many picturesque walks and cycle routes to enjoy, taking in landmarks such as the Cerne Abbas Giant, which is carved into the chalk hillside high above the village.

From the shared courtyard a private entrance door leads into this end of terrace, L-shaped, single-storey property. Once inside you are met with a welcoming hallway leading to the striking lounge/kitchen/dining room on your right which has high ceilings, exposed beams and is light and airy. This cleverly designed open-plan space has a lounge area with wood burner for those cosy nights in relaxing and watching your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. Cook up a storm in the well equipped kitchen area which has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a dining table to sit and enjoy leisurely meals together. Heading back into the hallway you will find two charming bedrooms, a dual aspect king-size and a twin, which both share the contemporary bathroom with shower over bath and WC.

Doors from the lounge/kitchen/diner open onto a fantastic covered veranda with furniture and a lovely outlook over the adjacent paddock and open countryside beyond. To the front of the property is a shared courtyard with parking for two cars. A small stream runs under the veranda and there is a pond across the driveway in the owners’ garden which is bordered with post and rail fencing, please take care with children.

This warm and cosy property is ideally situated for visiting West Dorset and Somerset. We had a great week exploring the area and saw the local deer and woodland birds right on the doorstep! Everything was superb.

Very comfortable, airy and spacious. Everything we needed. Loved breakfast every morning on the terrace and maybe a glass or two in the evening watching the deer. Well situated for lots of things to do - beautiful gardens, the coast and delightful Sherbourne 10 minutes away

I can highly recommend staying here. Peaceful area and the cottage was so clean and comfortable with all the mod cons but lots of character features as well. The deer in the paddock were lovely to see and an added bonus. Hope to return very soon

A very peaceful, rural setting just a short drive from Sherborne. Great base for exploring the area. Very impressed with the modern standard throughout. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook family meals. Utilities such as dishwasher and washing machine, iron, ironing board and hoover provided. Great 2-bedroom cottage with covered terrace. High specification and inventory. As the weather was warm during our stay, we did not have an opportunity to light the wood burner or test the underfloor heating, powered by a ground-source heat pump. The owners, who live next door, were very friendly and welcoming.

This place really was a bit of luxury in a rural environment. Lots of tourist attractions within easy reach by car. We did not want for comfort whilst there. Every domestic appliance you could possibly require for a short holiday was provided. Modern technology was also available with a quality smart tv and wifi. We had a lovely time away in this holiday home. It was so peaceful and it was well equipped, had everything you needed. We chose the location as it was central to everywhere where we wanted to visit. There was a local pub which was in walking distance, and the view into the meadow from the home was really picturesque and relaxing. We recently stayed at the Toller with our two daughters and we absolutely loved it. The barn itself was bright and welcoming with everything we needed. The veranda and access to the paddock allowed my girls to explore and enjoy nature, and for us to sit and relax. A highlight for us was seeing the deer in the paddock.
