Self-contained apartment hidden away on a private lane in rolling countryside, between the villages of Hawkshead and Coniston.

This apartment enjoys a stunning location close to the stunning beauty spot of Tarn Hows. There is a circular 1.5-mile walk around the Tarn, which is accessible for all, including those in wheelchairs. For those looking for a more challenging hike or climb, there are plenty of opportunities in the surrounding area, including climbs at Dow Crag and Hodge Close Quarry. Of course, a trip to the Lakes would be incomplete without taking to the water and with both Coniston Water and Lake Windermere only a few miles from the property, visitors will be spoilt for choice, with pleasure boat cruises, boat, canoe, and windsurf hire all on offer.

This self-contained apartment makes a wonderful retreat for a couple who want to enjoy a quiet break in the Lake District. The main living space, located on the first-floor, is the lounge/diner, which enjoys stunning views over the countryside from the two comfortable easy chairs. Glass doors from this room lead out to the balcony, which is a new addition to the property for 2017. There is also a TV and video, with a choice of videos, CD, and an electric fire to keep the room nice and cosy whatever the weather. The kitchen, though compact, is well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer, and toasted sandwich maker. The attractive and restful bedroom, has a king-size bed with beautiful views to wake up to. The property’s bathroom has a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, the glass-front balcony which runs along the front of the property, has comfortable wicker chairs from which to enjoy the stunning views, whilst there is also a pretty garden area, surrounded by fields, which is set to lawn with picnic style seating, swing, and sun-loungers. There is handy bike storage available for guests’ use, and off-road parking is provided.

We loved the cottage. It was perfect for two and the location couldn't have been better. Being on the footpath to Tarn How's was great for a short walk on an evening to watch the sun set over the Tarn. Would definitely recommend the cottage and would love to go back in warmer weather to enjoy the balcony

Lovely off the beaten track cottage with good access to a wide variety of walks. Nearby villages have good facilities for shopping and eating out. Easy access to most of the southern Lakes.

Have stayed here many times. Traditional, comfortable and homely, a lovely place to return to after a day out walking. No main roads anywhere in sight, beautiful walks from the door, especially the 20 minute walk to Tarn Hows, or 35 minute walk into Hawkshead village. Stunning views from the lounge, (a balcony pending) Can't wait to return.
