Resting on the outskirts of the village of Kirkby Fleetham, within the grounds of the magnificent Kirkby Fleetham Hall, this retreat offers two guests a homely base for some adventures in the North Yorkshire countryside. The North York Moors are 23 miles east and Yorkshire Dales 18 miles west, making this an ideal base for keen walkers and cyclists. Within the grounds are beautifully landscaped gardens, a lake, St Mary's Church and a private woodland where you are free to roam. Kirkby Fleetham is 1.5 miles away and has a gastro pub serving local real ales and good food. Northallerton is the nearest town with its abundance of shops and tea rooms or head towards Richmond with its cobbled market square, Norman castle and popular market selling local produce, both within 10 miles.

Adjacent to the hall, yet with privacy assured, a shared gravel drive gives access to this renovated coach house. Step inside the entrance with plenty of space for coats and muddy boots. The main living area is up the stairs where you can appreciate the splendid views of the landscaped gardens and lake through the arched windows. The lounge has impressive, beamed ceilings and is the perfect place to return to after a day of exploring the dales with comfy sofas and a Smart TV for your entertainment. You can rustle up home-cooked meals in the kitchen/diner equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher and coffee machine. Enjoy your meal at the dining table or take it outside to a bistro-style table beside the lake. When it’s time to get a good night's rest, head downstairs to the beautiful bedroom that overlooks the lake, with a super-king-size bed you can really stretch out in. The shower room is next door with a shower cubicle and WC, great for getting a refreshing start in the morning.

Guests have access to the phenomenal gardens with manicured lawns, well-stocked borders and a lake. While away the hours with your loved one, throw down a blanket beside the water and watch the wildlife close-up. In addition, there are paddocks and stables for visitors with equestrian interests. Idyllic location with the opportunity to walk around the grounds. The Farriers Loft had everything you need and appreciated the Prosecco on arrival and the basics. Comfortable bed with lovely view of the ancient bridge from the bedroom. Spacious lounge and well equipped kitchen. Even in January with unpredictable weather we found plenty to do. MounRead moret Grace priory was open at the weekend and Thorp Perrow is open all year unless the weather is really awful . Masham, Bedale and Northallerton nearby. Hide

The cottage is in a unique location, sharing the building is not a problem as there is an arch between the two loft spaces so privacy is not an issue. We were very fortunate to have a view of the stone garden bridge extensive lawns and the calming lake. Being organic we were able to use the freezer for our food.

One of our best ever cottages. The location with the lake and grounds was idyllic and the cottage was very spacious for a two bedroom site. The wine as a welcome was much appreciated. All facilities were well presented with the bathroom being especially good. The area surrounding with the dales and moors close by was excellent

The Farriers Loft is located at the bottom of Fleetham Hall driveway and has been converted well. Tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings and good equipment. Pleasant grounds with lots of wildlife, including the resident Labrador now and then. Kirkby Fleetham is well located to explore the wider area of Yorkshire. The main hall has large Read moregrounds which were regularly maintained during our stay, which can interrupt the privacy at times. An outside table would be beneficial. Hide

A wonderfully peaceful situation with lovely aspects onto the lake and grounds. We have made a few suggestions as to how the property could be even more accommodating but with those improvements this will be a 5* holiday destination. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Coach House. An ideal spot from which to explore the Dales and thRead moree Moors, Richmond and the numerous historical buildings in the area. Hide
